Every Master Mason is encouraged to wear the universal symbol of the fraternity, the square and compasses with the letter G, on the lapel of his coat. It is the emblem that identifies him as a Mason.
But, be ever mindful that doing so immediately places the wearer in view of the non-Mason who may take the opportunity to judge the man who wears the Masonic emblem.
Every Master Mason is a window through which others will see and decide from the experience what will be their opinion of Freemasonry.
This passage comes from the book "The Exemplar."
His words still ring as true today as they did when he wrote the book nearly three decades ago.
