Gordon Ramsay Escapes Major Injuries in 'Really Bad' Bike Accident

ENTERTAINMENT

Gordon Ramsay, the famous British celebrity chef, recently revealed that he is "lucky to be alive" after experiencing a severe bike accident in Connecticut earlier this week.

The incident left him with a significant bruise on his torso but no major injuries.

In a heartfelt video posted on Instagram on Saturday, the 57-year-old "Kitchen Nightmares" star recounted the harrowing experience and emphasized the importance of wearing a helmet.

"This week, unfortunately, I had a really bad accident, and it really shook me, and honestly, I'm lucky to be here," Ramsay shared with his followers.

Ramsay credited his survival to the exceptional care he received from trauma surgeons, doctors, and nurses at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. He expressed his gratitude, saying,

"Those incredible trauma surgeons, doctors, nurses in the hospitals looked after me this week. They were amazing, but honestly, you've got to wear helmets."

In the Instagram post's caption, Ramsay clarified that he did not "break any bones or suffer any major injuries" but admitted to being "a bit bruised up looking like a purple potato."

He expressed particular thanks to his helmet for saving his life.

The chef, known for his passion for cycling, showed a dark bruise covering a large part of his torso in the video, stressing the importance of helmet use to his 17.4 million followers.

"I don't care how short the journey is. I don't care that these helmets cost money. They're crucial," he insisted.

Ramsay also shared before and after photos: one showing him in shorts, a bright yellow shirt, and a helmet beside his bike; the other showing the same shirt and helmet damaged from the accident.

"I'm lucky to be standing here," he said, underscoring the severity of the crash.

He concluded the video by wishing everyone a happy Father's Day and reiterating the critical importance of helmet safety.

"I want to wish you all a happy Father's Day, but please, please, please wear a helmet. If I didn't, honestly, I wouldn't be here now."
