Freemasonry - Edward William Spencer Cavendish

On this day in 1938 Edward William Spencer Cavendish, 10th Duke of Devonshire, became Provincial Grand Master of Derbyshire, the fifth member of his family to hold this post.

In 1947 he became Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England. This picture is from the Museum of Freemasonry in London, and was taken when he was Senior Grand Warden in Grand Lodge.
