“On the third day of April 1865, evacuation of the confederate army a large portion of the city destroyed by fire, about 20 millions property lost, Confederate money worthless left a balance of $2500 on the hands of the treasurer. Misery, helpless brethren, widows and orphans left to our charity. With an empty treasury and worthless money on hand with all these obstacles the officers and member of Richmond Randolph No. 19 came forward and lent their aid and assistance to the distressed worthy brethren widows and orphans.” Signed by the officers.
