GLNP – 05OUT1910     My Most Dear Brethren,   Today, gathered under the aegis of Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity, we celebrate one of the most remarkable moments in the history of Portugal, the 05th of October. This date is not merely a symbol of political change, it represents the triumph of an ideal, the victory of hope, and the awakening of a nation towards a free and sovereign future. It was on the 05th of October 1910, that after centuries of monarchy, the Portuguese people rose in pursuit of a new era, an era where power would not be determined by bloodline, but by merit, effort, and collective will. The Republic was born to return to the people their voice, their dignity, and their sovereignty, enshrining values that resonate to this day in the heart of every patriot. Today, more than a century later, we celebrate not only the Republic, but also the principles that sustain it. These are the principles that form the foundation of our society and find resonance in the columns of Freemasonry. In its essence, Freemasonry is a school of virtues, a space where free men of good character gather to perfect their own nature, expand their knowledge, and practise true solidarity. The Grande Loja Nacional Portuguesa, the guardian of these values on Lusitanian soil, keeps alive the flame of the ideals that gave rise to the Republic. We are, like the republicans who fought more than 100 years ago, defenders of freedom of thought, social justice, and human progress. Like them, we believe that the construction of a just society begins with the individual improvement of each one of us, with the relentless pursuit of truth, and with dedication to the common good. My Brethren, by celebrating the 05th of October, we reaffirm our commitment to Portugal.A commitment that is not confined to the past but drives us to look to the future. Généralement un candidat potentiel est « approché » par des francs-maçons de son entourage, ou alors il manifeste son intérêt auprès de personnes qu’il a identifiées comme maçons et qui pourront répondre de lui. Ces francs-maçons pourront le parrainer. ​ Et si le candidat ne connaît aucun maçon ? Il peut encore adresser un courrier à l’Obédience de son choix (voir page voisine la liste des principales Obédiences européennes ), dans le pays où il réside. Il est donc inutile de se chercher un parrain ou une Obédience à distance. Quant au choix de l’Obédience, il doit être réfléchi. Les informations sur les Obédiences ne manquent pas sur l’Internet. Les principales Obédiences y sont présentes. Il faut toutefois se méfier d’Obédiences « virtuelles », parfois avec un Grand Maître, mais sans Loges ! Vérifiez par exemple si l’Obédience dont vous visitez le site dispose bien d’une vraie adresse, et pas seulement d’une boite postale ou même uniquement d’une adresse mail. Les membres de telles Obédiences non reconnues par les autres, et notamment par les plus importantes, risquent de ne pas être reconnus eux-mêmes comme maçons par les membres de ces Obédiences classiques. ​ Une fois contactée l’Obédience choisit de donner suite ou non, et de transmettre la demande à une Loge de la région du candidat potentiel. Cette Loge décidera à son tour si elle veut aller plus loin avec cette candidature. Aucune Obédience ou Loge n’est tenue de répondre quant à la prise en considération d’une demande et à son traitement, ni de fournir des informations sur le délai de traitement de celle-ci. ​ SURTOUT À NE PAS FAIRE ! ​ Il est vivement déconseillé de chercher un parrain en laissant ses coordonnées (numéro de téléphone, e-mail, adresse) sur le web, par exemple dans les commentaires d’un blog (nous ne publions pas les commentaires contenant de telles informations). Il faut également se méfier de toutes les personnes qui se présentent comme (Grand) Maître de ceci ou cela via l’Internet et qui pour la plupart ne sont que des escrocs. Par ailleurs, s’afficher comme candidat Franc-Maçon n’est sans doute pas très prudent dans certains environnements. ​ A la lecture d’appels et candidatures africaines, rappelons que l’adhésion à la franc-maçonnerie n’assure pas le pouvoir, la richesse ou la fortune en amour. Notons aussi que la plupart des obédiences africaines sont « prudentes », et ne se dévoilent pas ou peu sur le net. Difficile donc d’entrer en relation avec elles.
